The Pilgrim’s Progress Languages Project is starting to gain new momentum. We have offers of new readings in Korean, Taiwanese, Armenian, several languages and dialects spoken in Lebanon, Polish, Romanian, Ukrainian, and some less well known languages, such as Piedmontese.
Many of these come with their own stories about the impact The Pilgrim’s Progress has had on different communities, historically and in recent years. There is a wealth of global social history to be uncovered.
We have recently start to work with specialist libraries and other organisations to bring some of this together. These include The Congregational Library and Archive in Boston, Mass., the International John Bunyan Society, The Congregational Library in Cambridge, Council for World Mission and Bedford Heritage Library.
There are potential areas of research into Bunyan-related material in their
collections, some of which appears in online catalogues, though there is often more hidden in archives than currently appears. If we can spread the net beyond Britain and America, we hope to discover more about the global impact of John Bunyan and his writings.
