

Alan had a varied administrative and managerial career of over 41 years in Local Government at Bedfordshire County Council and Central Bedfordshire Council in Social Services, Education, Committee Services and Democratic Services.
He led teams in Education and Departments supporting Councillors and Council Committees, Chief Executives and Directors and other senior staff. He also worked supporting the Lord-Lieutenant and High Sheriff of the County and Council Chairmen in their individual civic and ceremonial roles. Highlights in Alan’s career have included helping organisations in making nominations for Honours, Royal Garden Parties and Business Awards for Exports and Industry. He was also instrumental in developing the Bedfordshire plan following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Alan’s connections with Bunyan Meeting began in the 1980s. He was baptised there and was married there in 1986. He later served as a Deacon for 19 years. He was chair of the John Bunyan Museum Committee for several years. With his wife Gilly, he jointly produced the church’s monthly newsletter, Bunyan News, for 20 years. He remains a current church member.
